Reports to: Director of Clinical Services
Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, with the assistance of the patient’s home school district, the Inpatient Educator provides students with educational and behavioral programs that will enable them to reach their fullest educational potential, while rebuilding their self-esteem.
Requirements: Valid State of Illinois elementary or secondary education teaching certification. Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience is preferred. Knowledge of educational, child development and classroom teaching/management theories with a good understanding of educational and therapeutic intervention.
- Knowledge of individual education programs, goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of educational and child development theories and classroom teaching strategies, with a good understanding of educational and therapeutic interventions.
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) in the English language.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
- Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various student age groups (primary elementary and high school).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
