Reports to: Director of Clinical Services
Summary: The Program Therapist performs social service functions to include assisting clients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, and specialized clinical social services for patients/families receiving care. The clinical social services provided include crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, group therapy and discharge planning. The Program Therapist serves as an integral member of the treatment team and is also responsible for case management of patient’s internal/ external support systems.
Requirements: A Master’s Degree in a mental health/human services field from an accredited college (counseling, social work, psychology) preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years experience desired, preferably in a behavioral health care facility, with direct experience in individual, family and group therapies, crisis intervention and treatment skills; must have strong clinical assessment skills, with majority of experience focused on the child/adolescent population. Program Therapist must possess a state license within one (1) year of employment in social work or clinical related mental health field (LCSW or LCPC). Preferred certification as alcohol or other drug abuse counselor. Must possess physical and emotional health to meet the demands of the position. Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. DHS/DCFS/DOC background/knowledge preferred.
